South carolina House District 85

Platform

Our priorities

Fighting for Our Community

These are some of the top priorities our campaign is focused on.

CORE VALUES & BROAD VISION FOR A BETTER GOVERNMENT

-Decency toward all human beings

-Respect for all people and backgrounds

-Fiercely guard taxpayer dollars

-Efficient government that is responsive to your needs

-Everyone should have the opportunity to live freely and pursue happiness

-Abolish all forms of gerrymandering

-Ban stock trading by sitting representatives

-Require term limits for all elected positions and judges

-End corporate money in politics

-All people matter and should be considered in decision-making

Protecting your rights!

1st Amendment

-Free speech is not to be infringed upon by any government official or entity

-My opponent believes in book bans and eliminating speech which causes discomfort. I believe free speech is a foundational value in America.

-Fact over feeling. History happened. Our kids should learn from it.

2nd Amendment

-Support individual gun ownership.

-Repeal the permitless open carry law and require proper training for gun ownership.

Community Growth

-Chapin, Irmo and Lexington have had tremendous growth, but management strategies have differed.

-Impact fees and concurrence are important mechanisms we should consider county-wide.

-State rep should work with county/town councils to make best possible arrangement.

-Emergency services and schools should have seats at the table for growth management.

Freedom and Non-discrimination

-Equal pay and rights are required in a free society.

-Government should reward work and ensure equitable access to public services.

-Require equal pay for women and minorities.

-People with disabilities deserve equal opportunity in our society.

-LGBTQ rights: I stand for the freedom to marry who you love, live as your authentic self, and make decisions about your life.

Healthcare Overhaul

-Reign in health insurance companies who have gained monopolies over your healthcare resulting in pharmacy, urgent care, and hospital closures.

-Push for prescriptive authority for pharmacists, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants in order to increase access in district 85.

-Expand Medicaid because South Carolinians already pay federal taxes and we should accept the money we are due; Medicaid should also be reviewed to ensure accountability.

-Women's healthcare should be driven by women and their providers, not the government.

Data Centers

-Hault all data center construction and require data centers to undergo a review process with open public input and county or town council vote.

-Energy requirements should be covered by the data center.

-Require community partnerships to make it mutually beneficial.

Livable Wages

-Equal pay; pass gender pay equity.

-Ensure those laid off due to automation are provided pathways for job market re-entry; require severance pay.

-SC has no minimum wage; it should be established with a planned percentage increase over time.

Foster Program Improvements

-Too many kids are stuck in the foster system for years awaiting resolution to their cases.

-Review the current issues with the system ensure DHS is resourced to improve backlogs and ensure safety while improving efficiency placing with foster parents.

-Provide more resources for potential fosters to be onboarded and accountable.

Animal Welfare

-Require spay/neuter of all domestic dogs and cats barring true animal health abnormality requiring forgoing procedure.

-Support organizations by re-establishing vouchers for spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.

-Better resource animal control to fight animal abuse and neglect.
